Sand blasting


Removal of top layer of material by blasting it with corundum.

Maximum size

  • Up to a length and width of 500 mm and a height of 800 mm. Other customised sizes on request.

Process

  • The surfaces to be sand blasted are cleaned and the areas that are not to be processed are protected Followed by sand blasting in the cabin Partial sand blasting possible by taping off areas – for example, only half a tube to be satin-finished Followed by cleaning in a water bath

Luminaire covers, sight protection

Possible materials

Any plastic type: Thermoplastic (Makrolon®, Acrylic, Vivak®)

Benefits

Subsequent satin-finishing of materials that are not supplied as standard with matt surface

Partial sand blasting is possible

A variety of translucence levels can be achieved by using several different types of corundum (blasting material)

Disadvantages

Sand blasted surfaces are easily soiled

Tendency for cloud formation

Extensive preparation and refinishing work needed
